CHAPTER 11

The evening sun was currently going down over Base 1 as Chad and Lisa Brice both sat there together holding hands staring out of the window of Chad’s apartment watching the beautiful sunset, “So what do you think the future is going to be now Chad?” Shrugging Chad Brice looked away from the window staring into Lisa’s eyes, “Well Lisa, I thought we would both be going on an extensive and much deserved vacation by now, and have a long wonderfully glorious life together, although now I’m not quite so sure about the actual real future, to be honest, you know, after what’s happened.”

“Personally Chad, I think things will inevitably work themselves out, and everything seems okay now. If there was something more happening then obviously we would have heard about it by now. Everything seems fine, and we’ve come this far haven’t we?”

“Do you mean us or the world in general?” Lisa sighed, “Both.” Gently kissing his wife’s hand Chad rubbed her swelling stomach, “Well I hope that you’re truly right Lisa, for everyone’s sake.”

“Personally I think we should scrap this entire space project! What the hell is the sense of risking our own lives for this obviously extremely risky venture, what’s the sense in it? Didn’t you all see what just happened to one of our best scientists? Have you all lost your minds? Obviously you should all realize taking such huge risks like what some of you are proposing is like asking for a death-wish, you do know that don’t you? Didn’t you all see what just happened to Professor Millers? Obviously we don’t know what we’re dealing with here.” Shrugging Greg Mathews continued drawing up some more schematics, “Personally, I think everything is now under control, and there is no longer any further danger. We obviously would have been notified by now if anything out of the ordinary has occurred anywhere.” Professor King’s eyes grew wide, “Are you serious Mathews?! What are you crazy Greg? You all saw that thing!” Greg Mathews shrugged, “So, now it’s dead.” David King sprung a leak, “Pbbb, yeah! And so is one of our best scientists!” Nervously some of the team members began glancing around at each other slightly uncertain as Greg Mathews sighed setting aside his diagrams, “Well David, why don’t you take this fact into consideration Professor King? You should clearly realize well enough, it’s not like there haven’t been other accidental mishaps with experimental flight tests in both air and space in the past say for instance leading to accidental casualties, looking at things statistically, now isn’t that correct?” Nodding General Langley agreed, “Yes that is true, I see Greg’s point. There are always going to be inevitable risks involved with such ventures regardless, so I’ll have to agree with Mr. Mathews.” Shocked and surprised about the superior’s tolerant attitudes under the strange and unfortunate circumstances Professor David King squinted at Greg, “The base has finally done some more thorough DNA testing
